5 different types of torrijas for Easter

1. Traditional French toast

It is my grandmother's recipe, the ones that are always delicious and very juicy.

2. Milk torrijas

Ingredients: A loaf of torrija bread, 4 eggs, 1 liter of milk, 1 cup of sugar, the peel of a lemon, the peel of an orange, a cinnamon stick, a tablespoon of ground cinnamon, 750 ml of oil for frying .

It is one of the favorite torrijas of the kids of the house, where the cinnamon and the juiciness of these torrijas are the real protagonists. To prepare them, you just have to heat the milk in a saucepan with half the sugar with the orange peels, the lemon peels and the cinnamon stick. Stir continuously with a spoon until the sugar dissolves. Before it comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and let it rest for about 10 minutes.

Dip each torrija bread in the milk, and then reserve each one on a plate. Put oil to heat to fry them. While you heat the oil, beat the eggs and coat the torrijas bread.

Fry each of the torrijas until they are golden brown on both sides, and let them rest on an absorbent kitchen paper to remove the excess oil.

Once you have them, put them in a container where you can leave them bathed in milk with cinnamon and sugar. Reserve them in the refrigerator and consume them within 4 days.

3. French toast with honey

Ingredients: A loaf of torrijas bread, 4 eggs, 2 liters of milk, orange peel and cinnamon sticks, honey, 100 g of sugar, 750 ml of olive oil.

They are very easy to prepare and are delicious. The first thing we will have to do is cook the milk together with the cinnamon and the orange peel. Once the milk boils, remove it until it is warm and add the sugar, stirring until it dissolves.

Cut the bread into slices and place each of the slices in a bowl. Go dipping each of the slices in milk until they are well soaked.

Once you have them all, pass each slice through the beaten egg and fry them in a pan with plenty of olive oil until golden brown.

Once done, leave them on an absorbent paper to remove the excess oil. Once they are, you just have to sprinkle them well with honey reduced in a little water.

4. Red wine torrijas

Ingredients: A loaf of bread for torrijas, 150 ml of red wine, 25 g of sugar, 100 ml of water, 1 lemon peel, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 egg, 750 ml olive oil.

Heat the red wine in a saucepan together with the water, sugar, lemon peel and cinnamon stick. Let everything boil for about 3 minutes until the alcohol evaporates. Once we have done it, we cover the saucepan so that it infuses a while longer until it cools.

In a deep frying pan, heat the olive oil. Cut the bread into slices and soak each of them in wine. Then drain and coat one by one with the beaten egg.

Go frying each of the torrijas until they are golden brown and once you have them remove the excess oil by placing the torrijas on an absorbent paper.

To make them richer, make a small syrup with honey and water.

Chocolate French toast

Ingredients: 1 loaf of bread, 100 g of sugar, 1 liter of milk, 250 ml of cream, 2 tablespoons of 100% cocoa powder, 4 eggs, 750 ml of olive oil.

Cut the bread into slices, and heat the milk with the cream. When the milk is hot, add the sugar and cocoa powder. Stir everything until all the lumps are removed.

Once we have the cold milk, we soak each slice of bread, and we pass it through an egg. We fry them with hot oil and drain them well, leaving them on absorbent paper to remove the excess oil. Then put a little sugar and cinnamon on top.
