Perhaps we are being unwise, but we must always start the house with the foundation and not with the roof. In Recetín we have done many CAKE RECIPES, but to learn pastry, like the rest of the kitchen, it is necessary to know the basic and elementary recipes and HIS TRICKS.

That is why we are going to learn how to make a simple cake, with no more aromas than that of its basic ingredients, which are, eggs, flour, sugar, fat and yeast. The result has to be a soft sponge cake, somewhat juicy and with a neutral flavor. The decoration, the extra ingredients, the cakes ... that comes later.

This basic sponge cake is the easiest and fastest recipe to enjoy a fluffy sponge cake during your breakfasts and snacks. It's great!

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 glass of full fat yogurt (mild olive oil
  • sunflower or melted butter)
  • 2 glasses of sugar yogurt
  • 3 glasses of wheat flour yogurt for pastries
  • 1 sachet of baking powder
  • 1 glass of milk yogurt or natural yogurt (optional)

Preparation

  1. We start beating with the mixer if we want the milk, the oil, the egg yolks (separated from the whites) and the sugar

  2. Once the cream is well mixed and somewhat thick, add the egg whites until stiff, add the egg whites

  3. We will carefully incorporate them into the dough with the help of a spatula or rods, always from bottom to top, gently wrapping, trying to prevent the preparation from coming down.

  4. Finally, we mix the sifted flour with the yeast and add it to the prepared dough little by little until everything is well integrated and free of lumps.

  5. Cover the mold where we are going to make the cake with a light layer of butter and flour and pour the dough

  6. Now we only have to put the mold in the oven preheated to 175 degrees for about 40 minutes with the tray in the middle position, controlling the juiciness and the desired point of the cake

  7. It is always good to resort to the famous dry needle trick.

    And if to this cake, when I have all the ingredients prepared, I add chocolate chips before putting it in the oven, how will it be? What if I substitute plain yogurt or milk for flavored yogurt?

      Well, Soraya, it will be delicious ... If it is already like that, as is ...
      The flavored yogurt thing is great, but try adding the fruit or the natural aroma. That is, you can whisk the yogurt with a little juice and lemon peel or add some crushed strawberries.

    No one in the comments has done it!… It is delicious and together with the recipe for the white chocolate cake and strawberries it is delicious. I have already done it both 2 times and a success at home.
