I think Tham meatballs It is one of those dishes that everyone likes, both children and adults. Although if we prepare them at home they are somewhat laborious, there is no comparison with those bought in the supermarket, they are soft, tender and juicy. So when I start to prepare meatballs I try to make enough quantity so I can freeze and have them ready for when I need them.
Today's recipe is a classic, meatballs in spanish sauceAlthough, as you already know, each house has its own version of the recipes, so today I explain how we make them at home, in the oven, so that they are healthier and lighter because we avoid frying them in oil.
Baked meatballs in Spanish sauce

Ingredients
- 2 or 3 slices of bread (from the day before)
- 1 jet of milk
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 medium carrot
- parsley
- 1 egg
- 300 gr. minced beef
- 200 gr. minced pork
- salt and pepper
- flour
- 1 dash of oil
- 120 gr. of onion
- 40 gr. of leek
- 1 spoonful of fried tomato
- 1/2 glass of white wine (100 gr. approx)
- 1 glass of water (200 gr. Approx.)
- 1 teaspoon of meat extract (Bovril)
Preparation
Remove the crust from the bread slices and soak them with a splash of milk.
Chop a handful of parsley and a clove of garlic into tiny pieces. Peel the carrot and grate it (with a manual grater or food processor). Put everything in a container.
Add the minced pork and beef, the egg, the drained bread and season to taste.
Mix well with a fork or your hands until a homogeneous dough is left.
Form the balls of the meatballs of the size you want and lightly flour.
Brush the bottom of a baking tray with oil and place the meatballs.
Chop the onion, 2 cloves of garlic and the leek into small pieces. Sauté over medium heat in a pan with a couple of tablespoons of oil.
Once the vegetables begin to poach, add the fried tomato and white wine. Cook for 5 minutes over medium-high heat so that the alcohol evaporates.
Then add the water and the Bovril (if you don't have it you can add 1/2 of the meat broth).
Cook over medium heat for 5 more minutes.
Pour the sauce over the meatballs and place in the preheated oven at 190ºC, for approximately 15-20 minutes. (Move the tray and the meatballs halfway so that they are impregnated on all sides with sauce and they are done well).
Enjoy these meatballs accompanying them with a little rice, potatoes or vegetables.
