A very interesting recipe from the Arabic cuisine which is fascinating. It is a melting pot of flavors and textures and they will not stop asking you to repeat it. Why not start the meal with a good tagine? Accompany the cupcakes with a good green tea with mint.

If you have never tried baqlawa before, now is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the flavor of these rolled-up nut cakes for mint tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of filo pastry
  • 250 g of melted sweet butter
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pine nuts ...)
  • 1 spoon of sugar
  • 1 pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • ground pistachio to decorate
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water

Preparation

  1. We preheat the oven to 180ºC.

  2. In a bowl, mix the nuts, sugar and spices.

  3. With a brush or brush, butter each sheet of the filo dough.

  4. We cook the filling on two sheets of pasta with butter.

  5. We make the individual rolls (about a finger thick) and press very well.

  6. We repeat the operation until we finish with the filo dough and the filling.

  7. We take the rolls to an oven-safe source and bake them until golden brown.

  8. Meanwhile, we make the syrup in a saucepan, boiling the sugar and water for 5 minutes. Add the lemon juice and boil for 5 more minutes. Add the orange blossom water and turn off the fire.

  9. When the rolls are, we take them out of the oven and bathe them with the syrup. We let them cool completely.

  10. Sprinkle each piece with ground pistachio and that's it.
