This weekend we could welcome autumn with a dessert decorated with seasonal motifs. Chocolate leaves are an inexpensive and easy way to start creating our own decorative elements for our desserts and cakes. Two tips: To make the sheets it is better that we turn to children, who tend to have a lot of skill in these manual tasks.

It is preferable to prepare them before the dessert itself. The leaves are delicate and with their handling we run the risk that in a hurry and nerves they will break.

Ingredients

  • Chocolate to melt
  • Leaves
  • Non-stick baking paper
  • A brush

Preparation

  1. We choose some pretty, firm and beautiful leaves, of the same type or varied. We will ensure that they have a well-formed and raised rib like those of ivy. When cutting them we have to leave a little stem. Then we wash them and let them dry very well.

  2. We melt a good quality covered chocolate cut into pieces. We can do it in a water bath or at minimum power in the microwave. So that while we prepare the leaves the chocolate does not harden, it is preferable to keep it hot over a minimum heat or in boiling water.

  3. Once the chocolate has melted, with the help of a brush we apply a first layer of chocolate on the inside of the sheet, in which the nerves are noticeable. We apply the chocolate superficially but covering the entire sheet.

  4. We let the chocolate leaves dry on a tray with non-stick paper.

  5. Once the chocolate has hardened we apply a second layer of chocolate and let it harden in the fridge for an hour.

  6. To detach the leaf, we do it by grasping it by the stem and removing it, taking care not to break the chocolate.

  7. We quickly decorate the dessert to avoid manipulating the leaves too much so that they do not melt.
