To prepare this cocoa and strawberry cake We are going to have to carry out two basic elaborations: the cocoa sponge cake and the whipped cream, also with cocoa. We will also prepare a very simple syrup and we will use an orange marmalade to give the cake a special touch.

In the preparation section I tell you how to carry out each of these preparations and, once we have them done, how to proceed to assemble the cake.

Taking advantage of the fact that we are in strawberry season and that they look spectacular I have chosen to decorate it with them. Of course, you can change the decoration depending on the season in which you prepare the cake and your tastes.

A homemade cake that children like very much

Ingredients

For the cake:

6 eggs
120 g de azúcar blanquilla
180 g flour
40 g of bitter cocoa powder
1 teaspoon Royal type baking yeast

For the syrup:

150 g of water
60 g de azúcar blanquilla

For the cream:

500 g whipping cream
2 tablespoons of bitter cocoa powder

Plus:

Bitter Orange Marmalade
Strawberries

Preparation

We prepare the chocolate cake.
Put the eggs and sugar in a food processor. Then add the flour, cocoa and yeast, sifting it to keep the air out. Mix delicately, from bottom to top, with enveloping movements, until everything is well integrated.
We put the dough in a mold of approximately 22 centimeters in diameter.
Bake immediately (preheated oven) at 180º for approximately 30 minutes.
To make the syrup we only have to heat the water (we can heat it in the microwave) and dissolve the sugar in it. In this case it is a light syrup that will serve to give the cake juiciness.
We also have to make the cream. We will mount it with a food processor or with the mixer rods. Add the cocoa powder to the cream and begin to assemble. We can add a little sugar, that will depend on your tastes. To whip the cream it is essential that we use whipping cream, that is, with a high percentage of fat. Also that both the cream and the container in which we assemble it are very cold. Once done, we reserve the cream in the refrigerator until it is time to assemble the cake.
Now we only have the assembly.
We divide the cake in two, to obtain two plates.
Moisten each of the plates with the syrup.
On one of them, on the base or lower plate, spread two or three tablespoons of bitter orange marmalade.
Then we put half of the cocoa cream.[url:3]
Place the other cake sheet on top of the cream.
We spread the rest of the cream on the surface.
We decorate our cake with some strawberries on the surface, giving them the shape of a crown.
