Cassata a la Siciliana, pastel colors

The cassata is a typical sweet of the Italian region of Sicily, characteristic for its presentation, since it is coated with a white frosting and dotted with the color of the candied fruit. The filling is made up of cheese, marzipan and sponge cake.

Name of this exquisite cake comes from arabic quas'atIe the mold with which the cake is shaped.

There are variants of the cassata, perhaps the richest for children is the one that covers the cake with dark chocolate instead of frosting.
