Autumn is just around the corner, and spoon dishes will soon begin to be the protagonists of our recipes. To anticipate the preparation of the spoon dishes, today I want to leave you some little tricks to cook and preserve chickpeas in the best possible way and do the best chickpea recipes.
How to cook chickpeas
When cooking the chickpeas, do not forget to always soak them in warm water so that they are not hard, preferably, leave them the night before so that during cooking they do not break or peel. Then drain them and leave them ready in a pot with warm water to cook them.
If while you cook them you see that they need more water, always add warm water, because cold water stops cooking and makes the chickpeas hard. If we use a pressure cooker for cooking, calculate that the chickpeas will be ready in about 25 minutes, if on the contrary you do it in a normal pot it will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
How to preserve chickpeas
You can find them in various forms on the market. Cooked, packaged or dried, you are the one who chooses. With dried chickpeas, it is important to observe that they are whole and healthy and of a uniform size and color. If they have these characteristics, they can be preserved for a long time if you keep them in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Once you cook them, you can keep them for several days in an airtight container in the fridge, or freeze them to last a couple of months.
