Cooking Tricks: How to Flavor Sugar

If a few days ago we told you how flavor the vinegar, today I'm going to give you another simple cooking trick with which you can make different flavored sugar, and we are going to learn to flavor sugar.
It is a very simple recipe to make and it is delicious.

To make your own flavored sugar, we are going to use ingredients that we usually have at home like orange, apple, flavored teas, mint leaves, etc.

How do we make each of the flavored sugars?

  • Flavored sugar from fresh fruits such as orange, apple, lemon, grapefruit, etc: To prepare it, the first thing you should do is remove the skin from the fruit carefully and let it dry for 24 hours. Once that time has passed, cut the skins into small pieces, and mix them in a glass jar with the sugar. Let all the flavor rest for about 3-4 days so that the aromas mix well and you will have it ready to use.
  • Flavored tea sugar of red fruits or any other flavor you prefer: I recommend that you do it with teas that have pieces of fruit, rose petals or any other ingredient to give it flavor. You will have to use a strainer to separate the tea from the added ingredients, and once you have it separated, all you have to do is mix these ingredients with the sugar. Let everything mix well in a glass jar and, like the previous one, let the aromas rest for 3-4 days with the jar completely closed. After this time it will be ready to consume.

Other options of ingredients that you can add to the sugar to make it flavored, are the following:

  • Mint or spearmint leaves
  • Cinnamon and clove
  • Vanilla pods
  • Chocolate chips
  • Rose petals
  • Lavender sprigs
