We are going to prepare a round with very few ingredients. In addition to the meat, the protagonists will be the onion and red wine.
We have served it with some chips but it also goes very well with white rice or with mashed potatoes.
Do not be scared to put so much onion because it works very well with this type of meat. And the wine? Do not worry because the alcohol evaporates and we can give this stew to children with complete peace of mind.
Round pork with onion sauce and red wine
A traditional recipe that is practically made alone.

Ingredients
- 1 round of about 900 grams
- 3 large or 4 small onions
- 1/2 glass of red wine
- Sal Island
- Pepper
- Meat broth (or vegetable or even water)
Plus:
- 4 large potatoes
- Olive oil
- Sal Island
Preparation
Season the meat.
We heat a drizzle of oil in our cocotte. When it is hot we put the meat and seal it, turning it so that it is well browned.
We chop the onion and put it in the saucepan as well.
We add a little salt to it and sauté it for about 10 minutes.
We bathe everything in red wine.
We let the wine evaporate for a few minutes.
After those minutes of cooking we put the lid on and let it cook for approximately 30 minutes.
After that half an hour we will add a little broth (or even water) if we consider it necessary.
In about 45 minutes or 1 hour, over low heat, we will have our stew ready.
We can take advantage of that time to peel and chop the potatoes.
Then we will fry them in abundant olive oil.
When taking them out, we put them on kitchen paper.
When the meat is done, we will only have to pass our onion sauce through a masher. Another option is to mash it with the mixer.
We cut the meat into slices and serve it with its sauce and with the potatoes that we have fried.
