Very sweet apple strips

Preparation

1. We will start by making our homemade apple jam. We wash them, peel them and chop them. Place the apple pulp in a large pot with the juice of half a lemon, while we put the skins and hearts to cook little by little in water in a saucepan. After 5 minutes, we drain and with the help of a spoon we crush them to get all the juice out of them.

2. We put the sugar in that same saucepan with the juice of the skins. We raise the heat and without stopping to stir we are toasting the sugar until it caramelizes. At that moment we remove from the heat and add the butter, and while stirring, we pour the caramel over the apples, which we have prepared in the pot with the lemon juice. We cook the apples with the caramel until we have a jam. Once we have it almost ready, we add the cinnamon and nutmeg, and lower the heat. In half an hour we will have our jam ready.

3. Once we have it ready, we pass it through a food processor so that it is well crushed.

4. We put the two well stretched puff pastry sheets on our work table, and paint one of the sheets with our jam, until it is completely covered. Next, we put the other puff pastry plate on top. We paint it with egg and put a little coarse salt on top.

5. With the help of a pizza cutter we make strips to our liking. We carefully place each of the strips on a baking tray lined with baking paper and let them roast for about 12 minutes and are golden brown.
