Homemade ketchup for kids

What kid doesn't like ketchup? There are probably few who have not succumbed to the charm of this sauce ... so much better if we prepare it at home !! It is not really about anything other than a ketchup with a good dressing of spices and dressings. So the key will be to use premium ingredients.

Being homemade, we must bear in mind that it will not last like the industrialists, so it is better to make less quantity and keep it in airtight jars for 4-5 days in the refrigerator, or else, sterilize glass jars and pass them through a water bath so that so the void is made for them. However, with this last technique, our recommendation is to keep keeping them in the fridge for up to a month at the most.

Ingredients

• 375 g of canned pear tomatoes (we remove the seeds)
• 25 g of red pepper
• 20 g red onion or sweet chives
• 1 garlic clove
• 20 g brown sugar
• 10 g honey
• 20g white wine vinegar
• ¼ tablespoon fine salt
• ¼ tablespoon sweet paprika
• ¼ tablespoon mustard powder
• Pinch of ground pepper
• 1 clove
• ½ cinnamon stick

Preparation

1. Chop the tomatoes, garlic and pepper. We put it in a pot and cook over medium-low heat for approximately 15 minutes. If there was too much water (that the tomatoes have released), let it cook uncovered for a few more minutes until it thickens.

2. Blend with the help of a blender for 1 minute or until the texture is homogeneous.

3. Add all the spices, the salt and the cloves pierced in the cinnamon stick. Add the vinegar, honey, and brown sugar and cook again over very low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. We remove the cinnamon stick with the cloves and, if we want, we can beat again with the mixer.

If we want, we can pass the ketchup through a fine mesh strainer so that the texture is perfect.
