Many movies contain real movie dishes, never better said. In "The Godfather" there is a scene in which Peter Clemenza not only prepares, but explains step by step, a recipe for meatballs in a rich and easy tomato sauce. The grace of the recipe is in that touch of red wine and in letting the tomato fry very slowly.

Ingredients

  • 24-30 meatballs
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 300 ml. crushed tomato
  • 1 box of cherry tomatoes
  • a splash of red wine
  • shawl
  • a pinch of sugar
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • fresh basil

Preparation

  1. We start by putting the minced garlic in a pan with oil and saute it for a few seconds so as not to let it take on color.

  2. Immediately we pour the crushed tomato, salt a little, and let fry until the sauce is concentrated.

  3. So, we pour a pinch of sugar and previously cooked meatballs (fried or boiled) or raw (they take little time to make). Pour a splash of red wine and let the sauce reduce.

  4. About five minutes before removing the stew from the heat, add the chopped tomatoes so that they soften slightly.

  5. Season with salt and sugar and serve with basil.
