Smoked salmon pate: an ideal appetizer

This starter is delicious served on black rye bread or crackers, but use whatever bread you like best. Putting the serving bowl in the fridge while you prepare the pate will help the pate stay cold for longer.

Ingredients

• 100g smoked salmon
• 100g light cream cheese, softened
• 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)

Preparation

1. Cut the salmon into strips.

2. Using an electric mixer or a food processor, blend the salmon, cream cheese, lemon juice, chives and dill until you get a smooth paste.

3. Season the pate with freshly ground black pepper and spoon it into a small bowl.

4. Cover it with transparent paper and refrigerate it for 15 minutes or until you are going to serve it. Garnish with fresh dill if desired.
