Tarta Tatin, the apple pie that is made upside down

Tarte Tatin is a variant of apple pie in which the apples have been caramelized in butter and sugar before being incorporated into the dough. Its peculiarity is that it is an upside down cake, that is, for its preparation the apples are placed underneath and the dough on top. It also does not carry cream.

Like many other internationally famous dishes, the Tatin cake is said to have been created by accident, specifically in a French hotel called Tatin.
