It is an endearing party in which the whole family tends to get together in a similar way to how we do it for Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve. In your dinner you can not miss the turkey, with the gravy (that sauce where all the juices are concentrated) as well as other traditional recipes. Among the most common desserts are the sweet potato pie or "sweet potato pie", although many also opt for the pumpkin pie o of Apple. 600 g sweet potatoes
115 g of creamy butter
2 eggs
220 g brown sugar
a pinch of salt
1 teaspoon tip of ground ginger
1 teaspoon of ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
(or a heaping teaspoon of 4 spices)
120 ml of evaporated milk
50 g white sugar
A sablé dough base
Whipped cream to serve

Preparation

We preheat the oven to 200º C.
Line a round mold with the shortcrust pastry and shape well so that there are no gaps.
We put parchment paper on the dough and place some chickpeas on top or another weight so that it does not rise and bake for 15 minutes.
Then, we remove the weight and the paper, we cook without anything, we put again 5-6 more minutes until it is golden. We reserve the dough base.
On the other hand, we boil the sweet potatoes for about 20 minutes or until they soften (we can also choose to bake them). Peel them and mash them (we need about 500 g of puree).
In a large bowl, combine the sweet potato puree, egg yolks, softened butter (soft), brown sugar, salt, spices, and evaporated milk. We mix everything well with the help of the blender until we obtain a homogeneous cream.
On the other hand, we beat the egg whites until stiff, adding the white sugar; we incorporate it into the sweet potato cream with enveloping movements with the help of a spatula.
Pour the result over the shortcrust pastry base and bake for 10 minutes at 200ºC and then lower the temperature to 175ºC and continue cooking at 175ºC for 30 more minutes or until firm. If we see that in the course of the shortcrust pastry edges begin to brown too much, we cover the cake with aluminum foil.
Serve cold with a little whipped cream.
